Posted by vinoth in ,

Dassault Systèmes, a French iPhone developer and world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, has announced 3DVIA Mobile, its first iPhone and iPod touch application. 3DVIA Mobile allows users to employ a Collage feature and combine 3D models with pictures taken within the application (iPhone only) and create new works of art by spinning, panning, zooming and inspecting 3D models in real time.

iPhone users downloading the app must register at 3DVIA.com in order to access and search thousands of high-quality models posted by the 120,000 members of the 3DVIA.com community, and 3DVIA’s premium content partners.

“At 3DVIA, our goal is to make it easy for people to tap into the power of 3D as a communication medium,” Lynne Wilson, CEO, 3DVIA, Dassault Systèmes, said. “With 3DVIA Mobile, users can find cool, realistic 3D content from our library and immediately enrich their photos, right on the iPhone. They download and position the model on a picture for an instant 3D mash-up that blends 3D digital data with the physical world. It’s both fun and viral because people like and want to share their creations.”

According to the iTunes App Store description of the app, the key features include the ability to search 3D models within the 15,000+ models posted to 3DVIA.com; a 3D interactive viewer, which allows users to pan, zoom and inspect models up close; the 3DVIA Collage feature, which allows iPhone users to position 3D models on pictures to email or share with friends; my 3DVIA, which allows existing 3DVIA 3D artists to view their profiles and 3D models; the ability to comment on 3D models and interact with other 3DVIA users.

3DVIA Mobile usually goes for $1.99 USD but, currently, it is being offered for free. What are you waiting for? The download link awaits.
